Paige Nienaber is working on a compilation of morning show Buzz Bits. Things that you did and it just took off. (Tommy Kramer had a great line about how benchmark landmark historic bits are never planned; they're stumbled onto.)
It could be something charitable that just "happened" and you just jumped all over. V-103 in Atlanta and WPGC has always been good at that. Ace and TJ are great at it. There was a double cop-icide a few years back and they were on it in minutes. Led an effort to have a community center built in their honor, and they were on it from start to finish. You can't beat stations that are proactive with that kind of stuff.
Paige writes … I'm not looking for regular features. I have some compilations of those if you'd like to see them. I'm looking for stuff that you did that people went to work and talked about that day. Great morning shows usually have a few of these in their arsenal.
Examples of tuff I'm looking for?
•Fly 92's Ambush Wedding or when they threw a backyard prom for a soldier and his date.
•Wild in SFO had the obvious Bay Bridge. It was topical and it put the station on the map forever
•Or when they sent Big Lou out in handcuffs to knock on doors to ask for a hacksaw.
•Hot in Ottawa? The Britney EPT Test. Or when they did "Name the Progeny" and offered Brangelina a million dollar to name their kids after the morning show.
•Dave in Minny? So many to name. Maybe the time he sent an intern with a chainsaw to the PGA tourney and he got detained by the Secret Service.
•Rocco's stolen sex tape at Wired in Philly.
•Jamz in Phoenix? The morning co-host shaving her head when kids raised money for cancer research.
•The Beat in Vancouver? They were busy entrapping a predator on the internet.
So, what're the three or four things your show has done that got everyone in town talking? E-mail to Paige Nienaber at nwcpromo@earthlink.net.
