This has been a wonderful year. I know that we in the broadcast industry have faced multiple challenges. The stock market is on a roller coaster ride. We will shortly have a new administration in Washington. Uncertainty seems to be the word of the day.
Now, more than ever, we have the opportunity to help our clients to weather the economic storms. They need our creativity. They need our expertise. They need to utilize our stations' airwaves to reach our listeners, their potential customers.
In harder economic times, all business does not go away. But, normal business does. We have to think outside of the box. We have to investigate categories of business that are perhaps new to us. We have to get off our laurels and meet the challenge.
We must count our blessings and our victories. Our glasses must be half full, not half empty. We have the opportunity to bring good news to our listeners instead of the usual steady diet of bad news.
I want to thank all of you who have included me as a part of your team this past year. I appreciate your business and your friendships. I have had the opportunity to work with some great broadcasters. It has been a privilege to come inside your operations and see the ways you serve your staff, your clients and your communities. Believe me when I say that community service is alive and well in small market radio, as well as in radio stations I have visited around the globe. What a marvelous adventure 2008 has been for me!
I wish all of you a very blessed Holiday Season. Enjoy your time. Celebrate life and the gift that is today. 2009 will provide us with a new chapter in our stories.
"The man who stops advertising to save money is like a man who stops a clock to save time." ~ Henry Ford
